I can honestly say that the combination of Poser and Shade has enabled me to regain my peace of mind, and released me from a job that was boring me and limiting my professional growth.

We recently heard from Mike Campau, Creative Director at SeventhStreet Integrated Creative Services in Birmingham, MI. They used Poser and BodyStudio in the production of a Quaker State print campaign for Doner Detroit.

The Archaeological Reconstruction Company (part of Pastscapes Limited) uses Poser figures in almost every project they undertake and have done so for the past 4 years, ever since their former days as Virtually Historical.

Poser was chosen as the only program able to generate realistic, 3D modeled images of a quality suitable for print production. The combination of realism and flexibility offered by Poser enabled me to write, design and lay out the book to a tight schedule...

When we first saw the images submitted from Mike Campau, we couldn’t believe that they were created with Poser. Many of us thought that the images had to be photos. Mike assured us that the images were indeed Poser. We sat down with Mike at Seventh Street Integrated Creative Services in Birmingham, Michigan, a beautiful tree-filled town not far from the Motor City, Detroit, and talked about his work with Poser.

...With Poser's user friendly interface and large internet based communities, I was able to achieve what I had set out to do. I give a lot of thanks to those online communities for their extra software add-ons and their tutorials. With their help, it is possible to take Poser to almost any level of digital illustrating that you wish.

Darrick Rainey is the Executive Art Director of the San Francisco Weekly (SF Weekly), a division of the New Times corporation of national alternative newspapers. Every week, he manages illustrators and photographers to produce all art going into the publication and website, as well as to personally design the cover and main features.

It’s Thursday evening and I’ve got a deadline to meet on Friday morning for a client. The wooden posable doll I use for my artwork keeps falling over thus slowing down the work process. I call my wooden pose doll “Pinocchio” and over the years he and I have developed a love/hate relationship. I love him because he was such a big help during art school and facilitating me in learning how to draw the human figure. I hate him for several reasons – he is not stable and he doesn’t fit well in my art bag when I travel.

I live and work in London and have been working as a commercial digital illustrator since 1986. My training was in technical illustration and I spent many years before 86' working for a variety of advertising agencies and design companies producing airbrush work, security patterns, packaging and line illustrations.

I have been using Poser off and on since it first came out. I actively started using it about the time Version 3 rolled out. Like me, Poser has come a long way from since then. And now it looks like Poser is starting to chart new territory with its upcoming Version 5 releases for the Macintosh. I use a combination of Poser, Lightwave, Photoshop and Freehand to produce many of the Star-Telegram’s graphics and illustrations.

If you’ve ever picked up a copy of Maxim magazine, then surely you’ve seen little bits of Poser illustrations. Some of the guys here in the office frequently get the magazine, and believe it or not, they’re on the lookout for Poser illustrations, not blond bimbos in bikinis...
