Since about 2003, I've been drawing my work almost exclusively on the computer with an Intuos tablet. If anything, it was a lot easier to draw on a virtual 10x16 canvas than it was to scan the same size piece of bristol board into the computer. The problem I had over the years was finding a program with the right feel for it.

I've been drawing, well, all my life really, and I'd always wanted to break into comic books. My big chance came when a start-up company, Merge Comics came into my life. With them, I've since done album covers for Penalty Records, posters, t-shirts and of course, comics.

Be it personally, academically or professionally I drive myself each and every day to better my skills to make it above and beyond my present abilities and to find each and every shortcut available to me. Because when it comes to comics, making deadlines can make or break you.

Manga style comics have completely changed my life, two years ago I couldn't even draw a bird far away in the sky, that's why I didn't care about drawing. But one day I found some manga books at the Public Library, and as I had never read one before, I picked up a copy and began reading it. As I read more, I really began appreciating the character designs, and realized that there were many different styles of manga story plots all with different themes, and adventures. I soon realized that I was enjoying the printed sequential art style even more so than the animated versions.

I've been using Manga Studio for over a year now with an experience a bit different from everyone else. I first heard about it when I did the portfolio review back at AnimeExpo 2004. Jeremy Ross, my interviewer from TokyoPop, recommended Manga Studio to me. I couldn't wait to try it out before the Stateside release, so I downloaded a free trial of the Japanese version (ComicStudio)--and ended up buying a copy from a Japanese vendor! When the English version came out, I was so glad that I didn't have to torture my computer to death anymore by switching between different regional settings under Windows.

Some of my earliest art work lies beneath layers of paint on the walls of the house where I grew up. When my father would bring home paper from his job, I stopped drawing on walls. Soon I left Michigan and moved to California where I now go to a vocational college.

I’m a French freelance illustrator. As an avid artist, I am always on the lookout for more intuitive and efficient graphic programs to use as I work mainly with a graphic tablet instead of pens and pencils. I enjoy using vector and bitmap tools and 3D illustrations. For me it’s very important that a drawing tool have bitmap and vector features, and allow for 2D and especially 3D import. Most of us use 3D programs, and so it’s great knowing a software tool allows you to import 3D objects.

Manga has been in my life for as long as I can remember. I’m an American teenager, living in Ireland, hoping to one day work for a manga publisher and do my comics full time. I’ve been drawing since I was 10, trying to improve and striving to be a better artist and writer. When I heard about ‘Manga Studio’ I was so impressed by it, I emailed everyone I could connect to the program to ask about it. Finally, I found e frontier, and the rest is history.
